Hosted by IIDB. This place was for mostly secular people to socialize, support, and discuss religion, science, politics, etc. https://sc-archive.iidb.org/
I'm an atheist and volunteer sociologist living in the UK. I've been asked to set up an atheistic forum for a friend; if there's anybody here with the skills and inclination to be an admin as paid work, or perhaps voluntarily, I'd love to hear from you. I'll hang out here and contribute some posts of course; this forum has style and grace!
It is generally very difficult to maintain an atheist forum. I was at one time interested in starting an atheist magazine.

Welcome, Nino.
As it happens, we're in the process of merging with the Talk Freethought board; see the thread Merging SC and TFT. I'm one of the founding admins here at Secular Cafe, and have considerable experience starting boards.
But I'm afraid I'm about burned out on running them.
Still, I'd be willing to offer advice on it. What sort of board does your friend want? Does he have a group already organized, and wants a web presence?
It might be best if your friend comes and speaks to me directly.

Thanks for the link and the welcome. I did some research with the idea of setting one up entirely through learning how to do it off my own bat, but found myself so swamped in subjectively esoteric terms I was frankly frightened off!

Thanks for this Jobar: I am encouraged by your response and will send you a detailed PM tomorrow - can't think of anybody better to lend a hand/light the way in setting it up - not that I know you from Adam (no pun intended lol) but one has to roll with instinct sometimes and optimism feels good! Cheers.

Warn your friend that starting and running a board is a lot of work, especially one for skeptics. Organizing unbelievers is a lot like herding cats!
Welcome! Good luck with your forum. It seems they aren't what they once were, and atheist ones have been around for some time (I've been on them since early 2001). But we here are actually in the process of merging with an offshoot/successor of one of the oldest and largest, the former IIDB, now known as Talk Freethought.
