He doesn't deserve to be called a politician, because he doesn't know a fucking thing about it.

Indeed. Just when I wondered if trump could think of anything more absurd to say...
Someone ought to ask him to comment in public how he would rate the treatment he's getting in comparison to Nelson Mandela's.

I couldn't help but think of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Right-wingers vilified them both as left-wing ogres, but they were both cautious centrists -- and sometimes cowardly ones. I remember how right-wingers denied some of their most cherished principles so that they could have something to be outraged about.
Like with Bill Clinton's firing of those travel agents. One would have expected right-wingers to have welcomed his opposition to government waste and to have firmly believed in the absolute sovereignty of employers over their workplaces, but instead, they made it out to be a great and terrible scandal.
Or Clinton's wanting to hire 100,000 cops. I never thought I'd live to see the day when right-wingers would be anti-cop.
Or Clinton's wars. I never thought I'd live to see the right wing take a position that right-wingers have long disparaged as everything from dangerously naive to outright treason.
Or birtherism. Donald Trump himself advocated birtherism about Obama.
Or Obamacare. When it was Heritagecare or Chaffeecare or Romneycare, the right wing did not seem very enthusiastic about it. But the right wing didn't hate it very much either. But with Obamacare, the right wing went into hysterics about "death panels" and how it represented a Federal takeover of the US's healthcare business.

We remember fascism - Butterflies and Wheels quoting Robert Reich on Facebook:
European governments, preparing for a round of major summits with Donald Trump next week, are wary.
I spent much of the past week speaking with officials and cabinet ministers in Europe. All they wanted to talk about was Trump. Here, in summary, are the most frequent remarks I heard, in rough order of frequency:
1. Trump is unstable, and were not going to count on anything he says or commits to.
2. Trump doesnt support NATO or European integration.
3. Trump is actively encouraging racist nationalists in our country.
4. Trump is allied with Putin to bring Europe down.
5. Theres no doubt Trump worked with Putin to win the U.S. presidential election.
6. If Trumps polls drop too low, hell start a war in order to get Americans to rally around him. (Opinions varied on whether Trumps war would be with North Korea, Iran, terrorists in Nigeria, or an escalation in Syria, Iraq, or Afghanistan.)
7. How did you Americans come to elect this ego-maniac? (Others called him an infant, moron, ignoramus, fool.)
8. Hes another Berlusconi (or Franco, Mussolini, Salazar, Hitler).
9. We remember fascism. We never thought it would happen in America.
10. The world depends on American leadership. Were very worried.
My overall impression: Anti-Trump sentiment is even stronger in Europe than it is in the U.S. If Trump expects his European trip to give him a reprieve from his troubles at home, hes mistaken.

's assessment of Trump's presidency. He has broken many of his campaign promises:
- Not bombing Syria.
- Building a wall on the Mexican border.
- Draining the Washington swamp. He has instead hired some big swamp monsters.
- Repealing Obamacare and replacing it with something much better. He failed.
- Using his business experience in running his administration. Instead, it has been chaotic with lots of squabbling.
- Someday releasing his tax returns. He now states that he will never do so.
- Divesting his financial empire. He has done the opposite, continuing to manage his businesses.
- Claiming that Hillary Clinton was a lackey of Goldman Sachs. He then appointed some Goldman Sachs people in his administration.
- Claiming that he will surround himself with the best and brightest. Then doing the opposite, appointing opponents of departments to head them.
- Faithfully executing the law. But he claimed that Obama wiretapped him as a distraction from the FBI's investigation into collusion between his campaign and Russian agents.
- Claiming to know more about strategy and terrorism than his generals. Then that failed raid in Yemen.
- Claiming that he will spend his Presidency working instead of golfing like "vacationer in chief" Obama. Then spending much of his Presidency golfing.
- Calling mainstream news organizations "fake news" and the enemy. Getting news from right-wing "news" outlets like Fox News and Breitbart.

Specifically, if you watch their body language carefully, youll see that Michelle and Barack communicate with each other in a way that is rare among presidential couples: when Michelle Obama is speaking, Barack makes eye contact with her and listens with interest to what shes saying.
If you want to see just how rare that is, look at old footage of interviews with Laura and George Bush, Bill and Hillary Clinton and the elder Bushes. Go back a little further and look at footage of Nancy and Ronald Reagan, Pat and Richard Nixon and any others you can find. Heres what you usually WONT see: the President looking at his wife when shes speaking. Youll see lots of footage of presidential wives listening, usually with an adoring smile locked firmly in place, to their husbands, but its rare to see it the other way around. When Michelle Obama is speaking, though, Barack looks at her and listens. When hes speaking, she looks and listens. Its a refreshing exception, and a key to the respect that flows between them.
Melania Trump in black at the Vatican. Why? - BBC News
Both Melania and Ivanka Trump were wearing black dresses and black veils, though not very concealing veils. Like Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, and others before them. That seems to be protocol for a woman visiting the pope, though a Catholic queen may wear white. Melania Trump seems to fit that description, as best as one can in a republic.
So that's why she seems like she is dressed like a widow.

Also in SA, DT, King Salman and Egypt's President Sissi put their hands on a glowing orb to commemorate the opening of a center for combating "extremist ideologies". That orb was a globe of the Earth, with the continents opaque and the oceans semitransparent.

They also talked about global warming and terrorism."This is a gift for you. These are books from Martin Luther King. I think you will enjoy them," Trump told Francis, as he presented him with a first-edition set of King's writings, recalling the Pope's address to Congress in 2015 in which he quoted King.
The Pope's gift left no questions about its symbolism, presenting Trump with an olive tree medal crafted by a Roman artist that the Pope said symbolizes peace.
"We can use peace," Trump said.
"I signed it personally for you," the Pope offered.

This is actually a petition - to say "Chinga tu madre" to him. That literally translates as "fuck your mother" which is pretty much the most offensive thing you can possibly say in Spanish. It shows what Spanish-speaking people think of him. I signed it.

Trump scolds NATO allies over defense spending - CNNPolitics.com
"Twenty-three of the 28 member nations are still not paying what they should be paying and what they are supposed to be paying for their defense. This is not fair to the people and taxpayers of the United States," he said.
The call appeared to reveal Trump's continued misunderstanding of NATO members' defense commitments. While Trump argued that many of the allies "owe massive amounts of money from past years," the 2% defense spending benchmark that allies must meet is designed to boost their military, not to funnel money to NATO or other allies.
Trump's remarks -- paired with his conspicuous decision not to reiterate US commitment to NATO's mutual defense provision, Article 5 -- are likely to unsettle allies who had hoped to hear Trump assuage their concerns about his commitment to the historic alliance.
Donald Trump calls Germans 'bad, very bad' over trade
Merkel meets with Obama, then Trump - CNNPolitics.com
"Look at the millions of cars theyre selling in the US. Terrible. We will stop this, Trump reportedly said of the Germans.
Here's the thing: the U.S. can't negotiate a deal with Germany alone. It has to deal with the entire EU, since Germany is a member state. Merkel reminded Trump of this when they met in March, noting that trade agreements with the U.S. have "not always been all that popular in Germany either."
Merkel meets with Obama, then Trump - CNNPolitics.com
On a day of odd political coincidences, Merkel sat down with one President she calls a friend and with whom she shares a political wavelength -- Barack Obama, and another, with whom she has had a frosty start -- Donald Trump.
Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron just exchanged a white-knuckled handshake - CNNPolitics.com
So Donald Trump has met his match in tight-grip handshakes."They shook hands for an extended period of time. Each president gripped the other's hand with considerable intensity, their knuckles turning white and their jaws clenching and faces tightening."

Trumps 'Home Run' Trip Leaves White House Happy, Europe Mixed - Bloomberg
Seems like very low standards on their part.Trump himself called the trip a home run, and aides agreed, delighted over the lack of major gaffes and their ability to keep Trump largely on script and far away from reporters. Even Trumps Twitter account was uncharacteristically free of top-of-mind rants -- despite the storm that awaits his return the U.S., with son-in-law Jared Kushner getting pulled deeper into the FBIs Russia probe.
As for some of the rough edges, White House officials shrugged, that was just Trump being Trump.
Very narcissistic of him.In Trumps telling of the trip, recounted Saturday to a friendly crowd of U.S. troops in Sicily, he made strong, new friends around the world and united global leaders against terrorism with a new sense of resolve following the May 22 bombing attack in Manchester. We will win, he declared.

Sean Spicer on Trumvfefeisms:
My point is – it’s beyond whether or not it happened intentionally. Many of you may not like it, but the fact is that Donald Trump is the head of state and as such, it is within his legal right and power to decide how words in the English language are spelled, written, conjugated and all that good stuff. We have a beautiful language, but the thing about languages is – they’re living, breathing organisms. They change and they evolve along with the people who speak them, so it’s a natural progression. I wouldn’t be surprised if ‘covfefe’ turns up on Wikipedia or in dictionaries in schools throughout America as early as tomorrow. Because, that’s just one of the many perks of being President of the United States. It comes with the territory and it’s up to you to decide whether or not you want to use it.
No, that is not a parody concocted by The Onion, The Tonight Show or any other purveyors of satire. They could not make it up. FFS, even the Monty Python would have lacked the imagination to delve this deeply into surrealism.
