I understand at a secular site, many folks may not appreciate this, but I made two of these today, one for me, and one for my Mother.

Remove the obvious, and I could go for that. It's purty. And a rock garden - minus even that bit of greenery - is the only kind of garden I can get in this apartment.

Actually, strike even that. With a cat and two dogs, it would be destroyed the first time they're left unsupervised. :(

Ooh, I might do another one, not an Easter one, but with Bonzai trees, etc. This was so easy and so much fun to do.

Well, this goes outside. Do you have a patio or a balcony?

Heh - I wish.

Technically, this is a townhouse, so technically, we have a "front yard" and a tiny stoop we share with our immediate neighbors. But let me give you a hint: the only reason my white plastic chair is still sitting out front and hasn't wandered off is because I wrote on the seat with a thick permanent marker:
Are you really so cheap that you'd steal a cheap plastic chair?
(That reminds me, I need to refresh it again; it's fading.)

Seriously. Somebody stole the seat off my bicycle. (If the bike hadn't been chained up, it would have wheeled itself away, too.)

I wouldn't leave anything pretty like a portable rock garden lying around.

They're both beautiful, Lulu!

Thanks for the inspiration, although, like Kenny, I'm more interested in the Zen garden aspect. OTOH, my significant other would be more interested in the gardens you have built.

Thank you very much.

I had an idea to do another one with a LOTR theme. :D Use a bonzai tree (Ent) and build some kind of white tower?
Another idea is a seascape, where you would have a water feature and a lighthouse and a sandy beach. Not sure what kind of flowers for that if any.

Just alot of fun and very relaxing.

Use this. http://hostthenpost.org/

Click on the photo you want to show us from Photobucket & save it back to your computer.

Then click on this host site above,

Browse for the photo on your computer you want and load it up.

Then you copy and paste the IMG code on to a post on the forum and voila ! Your photo will be on here and nobody knows your real name or details and you can avoid photobucket.

[quote=""Old Woman in Purple""]So, I try using PicValley.net, and I see ^ 4 generic "there's supposed to be a pic here" boxes.... but if right-click on them individually, I'm given the option of "Open Image in New Tab", which then shows the picture.

How do I get it to just show the image here, directly?[/quote]

Looks like you are putting the PAGE url ( http://www.picvalley.net/v.php?p=u/2855 ... 7ovBub.JPG) in the image tag. Try doing a right-click and "view image" then use that url: http://www.picvalley.net/u/2855/1187420 ... 7ovBub.JPG in the image/pic tag like this:

The first 2 pics show the "Scrappy Roman Stripe" I actually pieced way back in 1989, but didn't get quilted until this past summer, for my sister.

The second 2 pics are "Scrappy-green Lattice", which I made for my eldest niece for her graduation from college last December.

This is a beautiful quilt OWIP, can you tell me the name of the pattern? I will have to dig in my picture file and see if I can find my quilt, you might know its pattern too.

I've always known it as "Roman Stripe", tho I've also seen a variation with 4 strips per square with the same name.

Now if I had made it with the strips one way in one set of colors, and the strips the other way in a different set of colors, it would be called "Basket Weave".

Thanks, Danieka!

Having eternally a limited budget for such projects, I used fabric scraps I had available (buying only enough for the blue-grey border, and the backing), and used the dark red as center stripe on all the blocks to visually tie it all together..... and, of course, arranged similar-colored blocks in sorta diagonal stripes.

I find myself attracted to doing various "scrappy" quilt designs, tho I never quite pull off a proper "crazy quilt".... in spite of best efforts, I always end up with "scrappy-contained-chaos". :D

I absolutely love how the "Scrappy Green Lattice" turned out!
