Treaty of Brest-Litovsk: On 3 March 1917, Germany and Russia signed a treaty in the town of Brest-Litovsk in which Russia ceded to the Central Powers most of what is now Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine.It was a greater humiliation for Russia than what the WWI victors would do to Germany. Vladimir Lenin had promised "Peace, Land, Bread", but while he got peace with Germany, it was at the price of a *lot* of land, and likely a lot of bread production also.
