It would be nice to think this episode would enable him to 'break out of the prison of guilt'- but I fear it's far more likely that his denial and self-hatred will only be reinforced by it. Divorce, loss of all his friends, expulsion from his church- even suicide- is what I see as his most probable fate.

Some Wiccans believe in the (Wikipedia)Rule of Three, AKA the 'Law of Threefold Return'. It says that whatsoever you do to others, for good or for ill, shall eventually be given back to you three times over. I'm sure that most witches would see this as an excellent example of it.
I look forward to these things happening. Not out of a desire to see him hurt, but for him to see, first hand the empty words of far too many who call themselves Christian. They talk all day about the ideal of forgiveness, when they want to feel all warm and cozy about themselves, but how do they act when they are blindsided by reality. Do they forgive their own or do they eat their own depending on the circumstances?

I count on these people to reveal to the world their true character, because if they truly believed what they spew about God having a plan for all of us, they would be convinced that what was happening was apart of his plan. Why would they not support their own God's plan if they claimed to follow him? Because they don't.

Their actions speak louder than their words ever can and the rest of the world sees that.
When anyone tries to bask in another person's misery it is never justice, but revenge. To seek that is to try and fill a container with emptiness. Revenge is an empty promise of satisfaction that satiates nothing.
That seems like its truth is cosmic but not particularly pedestrian. There's a reason revenge is sweet is a cliche.

Feeling joy because of someone else's misery doesn't hurt anyone, does it? It's not as if you went out and literally hurt the person. It's just the quiet feeling of satisfaction that we sometimes have when we read about someone else's hypocrisy or failure. It's harmless and it's likely something that just happens. I don't think we have much if any control over our internal thoughts. I don't think it has a thing to do with justice or revenge.

I've never thought that revenge is sweat, because it is so fleeting and shallow. It's a feeling that can and does end up being a tit for tat contest of juvenile actions and reactions. President Trump traffics in that time and time again and what good has come of that?

All that I've seen come of that is more people in the center want nothing to do with politics. Is the next election going to be voted on by the far left and the far right? It just might be and if it is, it will be far nastier than the previous one.

I don't know. This whole topic is getting old to me. I've explained my reasoning over and over. All I know is that Facebook, twitter and and all the other social media sources will probably be lit up with nasty little comments and memes depiting the nastiest remarks available. I know that when President Trump won, I walked away from some of the conservative web sites I'd posted in for years because of the vulgar nastiness they spewed about Hillary. I know I was feeling betrayed by what happened with Sanders, but I've never would have danced on Hillry's or anyone else's defeat like what I saw in some of those places.

It just seems a trajedy and me having to go through the same feelings of shame and guilt as this guy must have, brings this closer to home than a lot of things. Maybe I'm projecting my feelings here, but that's me.

I'm done here. Whatever happens is beyond my control.

This thread might fit in either Politics, or P&M; since it seems to be focusing more on morality than on the political consequences, let's move it to P&M.

Another preacher of traditional family values suffered a temporary (well, depending on the definition of temporary) oops. This time it's Congressman Joe Barton. The pic, message and video he sent showed off his prodigious gut and masturbatory skill.
